All Systems Go for Dungarvan Show

In just under 12 weeks Dungarvan Show will take place on Sunday 12th July in Ballygagin by kind permission of the Queally, Broderick and Whelan families.   The neighbouring landowners O Grady, Shanley, Sheehan and Walsh families also provide valuable support to ensure that the Show runs smoothly.

New Events this year: Sheep – We are delighted to welcome the Irish Texel Sheep Society who are hosting their National Championships for the first time in Dungarvan.  There are over 370 pedigree Texel sheep farmers in Ireland.  These Championships will be an interesting new addition to the Sheep section which has, over the years been very well supported by local Sheep breeders.

Entertainment: Tug of War – Currently preparations are underway to stage a Tug of War competition.  We are delighted to welcome back this event.  Tractor Driving Skills – Last year was the first year we introduced this competition.  Plans are underway to make the 2026 addition even more exciting! Most Appropriately Dressed Lady Competition:  Start planning your outfit, you may get the nod and win the lovely prizes generously sponsored by Willow and Oak.  Jiving Competition:  Dust down those dancing shoes and have some fun. Music   A wide range of contributors including Traditional musicians and, of course our regular band Loose Canon.will be playing throughout the day.   Bar – We are delighted to welcome back Merry’s Gastro Pub who will quench your thirst!

Interesting Extras:  Artisan Marquee Over the last few years the Artisan marquee has proved to be very popular with Artisan producers.  The Show is delighted to promote these producers.  The marquee is a “must visit” for many of our visitors. Wellness Marquee – Two years ago we introduced a Wellness marquee which has gone from strength to strength.  Visitors loved the variety of talks and demonstrations on offer.  Be sure and call in.  Alpacas – The gorgeous Alpacas are back again this year as well as the traditional Forging display.

The Old Favourites:  Home Industries – Provide a huge array of Classes for young and old under Flower Arranging, Fruit & Vegs, Eggs, Homemade Jams, Homemade Cakes and Pastries, Art & Crafts and Photography categories. Horses/Ponies –  Classes for Horses  Ponies and Breeding stock cater for all sizes and ages. Showjumping – Again we will have three Jumping arenas catering for the young competitor right up to the professional competitor who competes at International level.  Cattle – Again there will be a wide variety of classes for all breeds of cattle. Dog Show This event is now one of the most popular events at the Show.  Entries will be taken on the day.

Browsing the Show Site: Trade Stand enquiries are coming in at a steady pace.  Last year we had a large selection of interesting stands ranging from the gigantic tractors and farm machinery stands to the stands selling all the necessary accessories for your dog! Please view our Trade Stands page for Booking Form and Terms and Conditions.  The Vintage Tractor and Car displays are very popular while the Kiddies Zone has plenty on offer

Park and Ride:  We are delighted to welcome back Local Link this year who will operate a Park and Ride system from Dungarvan to the Show site free of charge.
